Description |
Coordinates the planning, administration, and implementation of corporate wide telecommunications services in order to improve productivity and minimize costs. The Telecommunications Analyst recommends systems, vendors, and facilities for communications projects. This includes informing management of the desirability of continuing projects at various phases of completion. This position prepares proposals that request appropriate personnel and financial resources to complete projects.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
? Determining user needs through various interviews with key personnel. The information gathered from this process is used to determine network design, and to diagnose and resolve existing operational problems.
? Coordinating all phases of system implementation after having evaluated and recommended appropriate telecommunications hardware and software packages.
? Scheduling projects and resources in order to successfully complete communications assignments.
? Providing informal on-the-job training to peers and less experienced Telecommunications personnel.
? Maintaining a high level of commitment to new methods and technology in telecommunications.
? Interfaces with user management to ensure that the telephone system adequately meets present and future needs.
? Coordinates technical assistance to resolve telecommunications operational problems in order to promote effective system operations.
? Plans and coordinates installation of telecommunications systems to ensure effective system implementation and maximize user convenience.
? Recommends appropriate hardware systems and software packages in order to promote cost-effective telecommunications.
? Identifies financial impact of changes in the telecommunications industry in order to assist management in maximizing long-term Corporate effectiveness.
? Trains and develops peers and less experienced telecommunications personnel in voice and data applications to enhance Department productivity.
? Develops a personal continuing education program to promote more effective methods and introduce new technology.
? Other challenges include training personnel and providing improved customer service in the midst of conflicting priorities and rapid technological developments.
? Frequently advises the Director of Corporate Purchasing of project status and problem areas.
? Review all telecommunication invoices for accuracy
RELATIONSHIPS
? The Telecommunications Analyst reports directly to the Director of Corporate Purchasing.
? Frequent contact with outside vendors and engineers in order to coordinate procurement and installation of telecommunications equipment.
? The incumbent coordinates projects with the designated personnel in Facilities, IT, and Business Unit Operations.
? This position has regular contact with designated 'Business Unit Coordinators' to manage resolution of day-to-day problems.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
? A four year Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics or Telecommunication Technology from an accredited university or seven years of core enterprise LAN/WAN experience
? A minimum of five years of work experience in networking and network management
? Must have current CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) in routing and switching
? Must have current HP ASE ? Network Management Center Software or HP AIS ? HP Network Management Center Software certification(s)
? Minimum of one year experience in implementing network management processes using FCAPS and TMN network framework
? Minimum of one year experience in IP Addressing or exposure to BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP routing
? Domestic travel up to 30% of the time to established as well as potential branch locations.
